After producing stellar videos for Visa in 2020, they came back to my team at Explainly in collaboration with SevenDesign for more visually stunning videos. Our first promo was focused on Visa Ready, their global payment certification program that helps technology companies build and launch payment solutions that meet Visa’s global standards. The next few videos were the first installments in a new series of videos for Visa’s global financial education program, ‘Practical Money Skills’. Created in Adobe Illustrator and After Effects, and produced in collaboration with my Explainly co-lead Ben Jackson.
As Creative Producer, Co-Writer, Co-Director, and a Storyboard Editor throughout this project, I thoroughly enjoyed closely collaborating with our client Visa and our team of skilled designers and animators to illustrate basic financial literacy concepts for a global audience.

The goal of the series is to financially empower everyone no matter where you are in your financial literacy journey. Using Visa's internationally recognizable illustration style, we were able to create a video that makes financial literacy engaging in a quick and digestible format.
Featuring a seamless animated line that carries the viewer throughout the story in an interesting and eye-catching manner, our videos match Visa’s elegant new branding style while accurately representing the Visa brand and product.
Smaller intricacies of the subject had to be kept in mind throughout the writing and sketching process. Particularly, we avoided showing products or experiences that would be uncommon or inaccessible to certain audiences, such as air travel.
We also stuck to generic depictions of money, buildings, and environments, instead of any specific currency symbols or building styles that would indicate any specific country.

In videos relating to identity theft, we avoided visualizing any “bad actors” or cyber-criminal characters as is common in the cybersecurity marketing industry.

While leaving space for burned-in closed captions, per the brand’s preference, we concurrently minimized any on-screen-text so that animation localization would not become a hurdle in post-production.

Visa's Practical Money Skills’ signature line work style certainly lended itself to fluid transitions and an easy, pleasant viewing experience. I hope you find these animated pieces useful, as well as pleasing to the eye!
